Last night at the Oatley 101 9th Members Exhibition

Coco Kiss
A Tribute To Her Life
(2005 - 2007)
Won 2nd Prize.

I was absolutely thrilled. There were many exceptional works from the 150 works entered by many talented artists.


This award I dedicated to my gorgeous girl Coco, she lost her life quite unexpectedly last year leaving me devastated under the circumstances. I drew this shortly after she died as i felt compelled to pick up my pencil in order to help me with my grief.

The Judge was Colina Grant
Her comments were..."I feel drawn into the whimsy by the composition and handling of detail of this tonal study. Love it!"

Freda Surgenor (http://www.surgenor.com.au/) won First Prize for her Acrylic work Moored In Shallow Water (http://www.surgenor.com.au/inshallowwater.html)

Mara Marston Boni (http://maraboni.aapress.com.au/) won Third Prize

It was really wonderful to meet Freda and Mara last night... Freda and i discovered each other on Redbubble before knowing we were members of the same Art Society.

Apart from Monday nights I have only ever done the odd weekend exhibition, art of sydney and a Jaiwai Shen Demo which was fabulous on an evening, Saturdays are hard for me. Hope you come to drawing one night, I love it, really good training, friendly uncompetitive group, really good consistent standard of models, blah blah blah, praise praise. I did read miniatures but will dig it out again tomorrow. :thumbup1:

I have never been to a life drawing class and am keen on attending to improve my Watercolour Ladies as they are purely imaginative drawn with no reference. You have given it a great recommendation.

Thank you winnierose, I remember posting it too...as a work in progress as well. I was only just learning how to use a computer and as i'd never touched one before. That and a digital camera. :blush:
