Whoops - we nearly fell over.
Any one fancy tackling the Dictionary?
I suggest opening up a page, picking out a word and being inspired by it.

I can see a boat painting coming along...
I'm not up for this challenge though, I'm already flat knackered painting as it is.

OK, it's been raining today and my husband is watching the football. I remembered I had some shells I collected last holidays and luckily there were some barnacles in amongst them.
So I thought watercolour would be suitable for barnacles. I started with white oil pastel to draw with, added watercolour and finished off with pen and ink. Now I only ever dabble with watercolour, but here is my effort.

This is an interesting challenge. Ingrid and Inkgal are quick off the mark! Nice work girls. Ingrid I must admit yours reminds me a bit of an internal organ. Inkgal yours is really interesting - I think it is self revealing to a certain extent.
Well I just opened the dictionary and the first word I got was farinose. What the!!! Think I'll try again!
ingridr
04-07-2008, 05:57 PM
Inkgal, that is very intense - and mysterious.
Thanks Jayde,... internal organ?!? LOL

Well I closed my eyes, opened the dictionary, spun my finger around and pointed to .... embellish. Lets see what I can do with that!
Ingridr, your piece is lovely! So delicate and the colours are beautiful!
Inkgal, what a whizz you are! I have always enjoyed your paintings and I think this one is certainly Mysterious, a wonderful piece!!
Holy Moly Inkgal! How big is that? it's fab!
Ingridr yours came out well, the highlights look really awesome!

Green tinged humanoid with donkey type ears ! .... Xmarks the spot.... eyes peering out from the depths... I'd say you covered 'mysterious' very well !

Alright, my word was embellish; beautify, adorn, heighten with fictitious additions.
Hmm, well at the moment I have 2 WIP that are very full-on and demanding so I hope you don't mind but I took the opportunity to do something much more whimsical and simplistic. I literally embellished this picture with various objects I had around the house. It has mosaic tiles, green sheeps wool, easter egg foil from my Nana, (it has to be 20 years old!), twigs and shiny letters. It was quite hard to photograph and you really can't see the detail properly, there is a dog beside a dog house, a cat near the tree on the left and it has the words, dream, hope, imagine, grow scattered around it in stuck on letters. It also has mosaic tile all around the outside of it.
It was very cathartic and quite relaxing for a change!
But oh so simple compared to Inkgal and Ingridr:laugh:

well 3rd time lucky.
My first pick was some tropical disease that caused gastroenteritis (and I didn't think anyone would need to see that).
Second pick was some kind of medieval italian luminary - what the!
Third pick was Ounce. That I could do without offending anyone. :blushing:
20 minutes in oil while juggling eager 3 year old.

Thanks emkay, jewels and helm for your comments, what can I say?.... I like to paint, I like to glue!!
Emkay, yours looks great, I really dig the colours, the darkness against the shiny gold/brass colouring. I can't believe you did it in 20 mins with a 3 year old in tow!! I'd still be setting up at 15 mins, with all three of mine tucked up in bed!!!!

Thanks Sweetmango. I'm not usually into that sort of style, but it was hard to be creative with Zara swinging around and demanding I watch her dance.
Oh I miss the daytime sleeps.......

:thumbup1: Good on you Bob, if I could have daytime sleeps I would! All of my kids just reached a point where they decided they just didn't need that day sleep and they certainly weren't grumpy or anything like that for not having it plus they seemed to sleep so much better at night.
But I really do wish I could siesta like you, it is good for the body, mind and soul!!! Have an extra 10 mins snooze for me will you?
