Agapanthus Bloom
watercolour
15 X 25CM

Montval 185gsm

A very quick watercolour to capture the burst of colour of the Agapanthus bloom.
I love Montval paper and the way it allows the paint to move on the surface... it's slower than Arches... the water tends to sit on the surface a few seconds more to allow for the paint to run before it absorbs into the paper.

I love the loose your painterly approach that captures the essence of the Agapanthus Bloom

arrrghghh agapanthas! *runs away*

No seriously, your painting is very good, but it reminds me I have to go chop off the agapanthas in the front garden before their seeds get everywhere!

I love this too Perugina! As already stated , it is alive and fresh as well as delightfully loose.:thumbup1::thumbup1:

Montval paper ....I have never used ( at least I can't remember using it) I must keep a look out for it.
Looking forward to catching up with you..

Lovely. That loose application gives this painting a sense of spontaneity.

These are gorgeous! I have them down my driveway and they make a lovely display at Christmas time!
Yours are great!

I have been looking at your blogs and I am
very impressed with way you have established a blog for the various painting (and other) themes.

Also your plans for developing your art capabilities are very impressive.
You deserve to succeed :thumbup1:

Bob Abrahams.. thanks Bob, i was seeking to paint this very quickly to capture as you put it "the essence" thaks for dropping in.

Helm...i have to agree with you hear... let the go to seed and they are like a weed... a very beautiful one!

inkgal8290...i find watercolour very... very... frustrating. i really must be crazy enrolling for another year in this medium... it's addictive and never boring, so perhaps this is its appeal!

Mrs Willow...hi there, thanks for dropping in. Montval paper by Canson... i like!

Jayde...thanks for your comments.

Jewels...i love this flower and its gorgeous blooms in the summer... i wanted so much to capture it... i'd also like to attempt a whole lot of them together, one day if i have the courage!

ingridr...i used to have them up the drive also however pulled them out as they were just to clumped! Enjoy... i still have a few though about the place. They make great subjects for painting.

Bob Abrahams...thanking you for your lovely words regarding my Blog... the real test will come in sustaining all the posting... perhaps i should have made it one of my goals... oops!

I have to return the compliment on yours... as i was impressed with it also... you have set very specific targets and seem to be very experienced... i feel very honoured that you stopped by and to have your support.

I'm only new here and it's going to take a while for me to get to know all the familiar faces... it all takes time.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to comment.
