A few people have asked how does it play? To be honest I don't really know - I can't play guitar - but it makes pretty much the same uncoordinated guitar sounding noises that it did before the conversion so I guess it works okay

The wammy bar is because I originally pictured this concept as an electric guitar (this version is acoustic). I had that microphone handy and it just looks right in that location. If you plug the mike into a computer you can kind of amplify the sound.

I'm going to try and learn to play something so I can record a video of it in action.

I should mention, why I made the guitar if I can't play. The simple answer is that I thought it would be a very interesting object for taking photographs of and maybe submitting the photos to one or two stock photography sites.

It's real cute TET. Personally I'd have to put paint on the palette !

i think paint on it might mess it up...maybe some varnish

I was going to put three splotches of paint, roughly where you'd see volume knobs etc. (if this was an electric guitar) so it looked more like a 'working' palette. It's also possible to remove the mic from its base and replace with a paint brush for added effect.

Still going to try that at some point.

So how does it sound/play? Did you create it along any particular acoustic guidelines or principles or purely on the aesthetic? It looks like a rather thin body - I'm guessing it sounds something like a ukelele - & that's not a bad thing.
Yes I'm a guitar nut. I'm envious of your initiative.

It actually sounds more like a guitar than a ukulele (and I do know because my Dad once owned a ukulele and both acoustic and electric guitars) - possibly because the actual guitar is just a mini guitar (31" I think) intended for very young 'beginner' fingers. I haven't changed it that much, just removed the strings etc. so I could glue a real artist palette to the face board.

The only difference really is that the strings sit about 5mm higher above the sound box.

For those of you that remember my artists palette guitar, the photo above (in the first post on this topic) was recently modified and used to promote an underground art gallery in Los Angeles, California. See poster below:

The poster and all the modifications were done by US artist 'Kampy' - I just supplied the photo and had the pleasure of seeing the finished product.

I particularly like the paint on the palette - very convincing.

You can read more about the poster in my blog (http://www.extraordinarytourist.com/2008/06/artist-palette-acoustic-rock-guitar.html).

I have a high res digital copy so if I wanted a hard copy I could easily get one printed up.

Judy actually said she would've put paint on the palette so she'll be pleased to see this version (which looks better than what I would've done because I don't actually use this kind of palette when painting).

Yes - I get a credit in the bottom right corner of the poster along with Kampy. It's small but its there - you can see it better in the hi-res version.
