Dose any one know of any on line gum tree painting tutorials. I always seem to glomp the foliage in a kinds ball where in life the leaves seem all broken up. They are actually hard to paint things.

LOL Ingal - the sense of distance on this forum doesn't exist - you don't even think that half the people are half way across the world !!!
Have a look at some of classical Aussie painters like Tom Roberts who painted many of gum tree landscapes

Good luck - and can't wait to see your gum tree/leaves painting!!!

The "International Artist" No 58 Dec/Jan 2008 page 150 on has a great article and lots of examples of Australian River Gums by Kasey Sealy. Might be worth a look

Australian artists who are well known for their gum trees are Tom Roberts, Arthur Streaton (that might be Steeton), Fred Williams and I would imagine Margaret Preston would have done some graphic looking gum leaves at some point although I cant recall any. Really Tom Roberts was the first Australian artist to nail it.

Hey inkgal. One of my favorite landscape artists is Frank Mutsaers, you might like to google his work, IMO his gums are some of the finest. Probably because he concentrated on Victoria the most, LOL, our gum trees are superior.
