have just been reading through the threads and thought this might be a good way to motivate me. Might be boring for everyone else though!
Have decided to begin my New Year next week. Back to art club on Monday and to buy materials for new painting.

Not boring Deejay. Go for it - it's amazing how much momentum you pick up once you start doing it.
PLUS you feel like you need to actually do something to write about. Hee hee.

Well - it's Monday and I made a start today. Went to the Art Club and made some purchases so that I can start a small commission - a painting of a friend of a friend's dog. Also I finally rang to organise a watercolour workshop for a small group of friends.
I realised why it's been difficult getting motivated. My studio was so cluttered!! (now this could be procrastination!) Got to with the vacuum cleaner and duster and also started dejunking. It looks so much more inviting already!! Have two more tables to sort through and then I'm into it. Will easily get that done tomorrow (the tables and the beginning of the painting).
In tidying up I found a piece of good advice entitled "A More Creative Response". Here are a few excerpts.
Use encouraging, affimative lanuage when you self-talk and when you talk to others about difficulties. For example, "I've decided to" in place of "I have to". I'm working on this challenge. Acknowledge the problem, to be positive about the outcome.
Set a specific timeframe each week to initiate action letters, phone calls and conversations - don't wait for others to take the first step. If it's a "tough one" they will probably avoid it.
Focus all your attention and energy on the achievement of the objectives you have set and their successful completion. Remember, you usually get what you think of most.
Sorry, don't know where it's from so can't acknowledge the author.
Hope this might encourage someone else who's finding it difficult to get motivated and started.

Some good advice Deejay. You may need to keep adding more here - I know I've got to get the work room cleaned, tidied & dejunked ........... Hey Jewels, maybe we could do a swap of work rooms???:w00t:

Isn't it funny! I'd love to be organised and tidy - it would help so much. My studio was so cluttered you had to move around obstacles to get from one place to another. Not good for standing back to get a more objective look at things!!!! Maybe we need to reach that half way mark!
Good luck tomorrow Jewels!
I'll be checking up on you ep_treasures. If I can do it, you can too!! ---can't find the smilies right now:-)

Hey ep_ treausures, what a great idea, we would probably paint masterpieces if we swapped work rooms
