My painting experiments have been a little disappointing so I decided to go back to the drawing board (literally). This one was inspired by a tree in my backyard but largely drawn from my imagination.

Love it Jayde. You should blow up a section and make an abstract painting from it. Could be interesting. :)

Thanks for your kind comments Michelle and Petra. It's interesting you should say that Michelle as I am into abstracts and semi-abstracts these days (though I'm not keen on abstract expressionism).

That is amazing work Jayde, both in the detail and variation. Great stuff!

Thank you Ingrid. Now that I've had this break it's back to the easel.

Thanks Belinda, but brave I am not! Those fine stringy areas are a form of doodling for me. Sort of filling in the gaps whilst I think.

I love the detail!!!

Are you in science by any chance? reason i ask is coz im a web designer for monash science and some of the sketches the science teachers send are amazing. they manage to produce very fine lines and have to be accurate when they sketch cells and fibres and all that.. actually it amazes me that they have to learn how to draw hehe

Thanks Louella and Shell. No I am not in science Louella though I did study biology at Tech. I must admit I am absolutely fascinated by nature and humbled by the beauty of the natural world.

Love the last comment on the natural world, plus, every painter can draw, but to get a good feeling of the subject that is felt by the viewer is something else, I can feel the "soul" of that tree trunk !!!!!
