last found in the Pilbara region WA 1940
only four species ever found between 1908-1940
here is a poem i doctored for this little Dunnart
i draw in pastel (homework)
Some years elapsed before the body was found
woodcutters walking over the ground
they came to see the longtailed dunnart remains
in the arms of god and rid of its chains
where could he rest easy, when they put him down
it was not the cementry but somewhere in town
in a museum where we can see how he used to be
back in the country that he used to roam, the creeks and the river the longtailed dunnart called his home
gone forever now, long lost
to all of us, its dead at a high cost
