Hi All,

Just wanted to share a drawing I did in April last year (yeah ages ago!)... its of Naomi Watts on a4 paper with charcoal pencil. The pictures are a bit blurry since I can't seem to take a decent photo!

Wow Stephanie - it almost looks like you photocopied a photo and drew over it. It's very good. My favourite bit is the necklace. I like that it is unfinished and a bit rough. Lovely. :)

Great work Stephanie. No offense Michelle but I like the necklace least of all as I think it distracts from the face.

Having something incomplete in there works for me - because it makes it a bit more obvious as a drawing, without it being there a viewer is more likely to slip into the 'uncanny valley' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_Valley)and start looking for what is physically wrong instead of appreciating the rightness of the overall drawing.

Thanks guys - unfortunately the picture doesn't show all of the shading properly - there is more subtle shading around the face.

Oh, and I just got lazy on the necklace :) I dont mind the way it looks that much though.
