Over the years I have been to Mt Augustus NW Western Australia quite a few times to paint. I have also painted from photographs and memory. Today's version is acrylic paint on loose canvas 27.5x35cm based on one of my photographs, but not studiously copied.

Its not qute finished yet needs more a little small brush detail. You can see how I started the underpainting with cad red and cad yellow.

Showing promise here, Bob.
So, is it worth a visit? I'm told Uluru is more spectacular, but Mt Augustus is larger and not over exploited as is Uluru.

Mount Augustus
Its a beautifil place, so old the rock surface has disintegrated allowing undergrowth and trees to flourish with rock pools. Not easy to access except from the opposite side to the one in my painting. At dawn and dusk the rock shimmers in the orange and violet light. No wonder the local believe that it has mystical qualities.

Adjacent is Cattle Pool beautiful rich colours in the red earth, blue-white river gums etc

Definitely worth a trip lots of other places in the nearby gorges
